Guide to Import Sales in G SHOP POS

This module allows users to import sales data in bulk from an Excel file, streamlining the process of adding multiple sales records at once.

How to Navigate to Import Sales

To access the Import Sales section go to the Sell menu on the left-hand sidebar. Click on Import Sales from the dropdown options.

How to import sales

  1. Template Download:
    • "Download template file" button: Provides a pre-formatted Excel template that users can download and populate with their sales data. It is crucial to use this template to ensure compatibility and successful import.

File Upload:

  • "File To Import": Allows users to select the Excel file ('.xls' or '.xlsx') containing the sales data (Template File downloaded).
  • "Choose File" button: Opens a file browser to select the Excel file (Template File downloaded) from the user's local machine.

Import Process:

  • "Upload and review" button: Initiates the import process. The system will validate the uploaded data and display a preview for review before final import.

    Instructions and Guidelines:

    • Numbered Steps: Provides clear instructions on the import process:
      1. Upload sales data in Excel format.
      2. Choose business location and the column by which sell lines will be grouped. (This option might be dynamically populated based on the business locations configured in the system. The grouping column refers to how individual items within a sale are categorized, e.g., by product category or department).
      3. Choose respective sales fields for each column. (Mapping of columns in the Excel file to the corresponding database fields in G SHOP POS.)
